The Maqam Community Food Hub

UPDATE -

THIS HUB IS BEING MOVED AS FROM THURS 30TH JULY, NEW VENUE TBC

The wonderful community hub, the Maqam Centre, has kindly offered the use of their premises every Thursday between 12-3pm to prepare and distribute freshly-made food parcels for vulnerable people and families.

The freshly cooked food for the parcels is provided by the incredible Daksha of @communityresponsekitchen in Alperton.

We also include fruit and veg and any treats that are donated to us by local businesses. This not a replacement foodbank service but we can help anyone connect to one for more substantial help.

Food, as with the Monday distribution at 22 Lonsdale Rd can be collected from 2pm or will be delivered by DBS-checked Salusbury World volunteers with help from APRATA, QPARA, and the 'mutual aid' groups for Queens Park, Kensal Green and Brondesbury.

Here is a link to the lovely story and pics (via Salusbury World).

Those receiving gifts are neighbours at local schools or who have approached the 'mutual aid' network or are known to charities such as Salusbury World, the residents associations for the area and other local residents.

RECEIVING A GIFT

If you would like more information about receiving one of these parcels please click here or email kensalqueenspark@gmail.com. Your details will not be shared with anyone without your permission and will be used only to deliver a gift parcel to you.

DONATING

If you would like to help us donate these parcels, we also obviously accept bought items which you know a person or family would like, including from these supportive local businesses. We are very keen on rice, dried pasta and tinned tomatoes as extras for the gift parcels,

The Maqam will be open from 12pm to accept items.

Make your donation worth 25% more, at no extra cost to you?

Or, if you prefer, you can support us by sponsoring a food parcel by donating here, via Salusbury World: www.justgiving.com/campaign/GiftYourNeighbour. If you are a UK tax payer your donation will increase by 25% if you tick the Gift Aid box.

100% of the money will be spent on food for the project.

Thank you

FOODBANKS

We are working with all the other foodbank services in the area and are also a new drop-off point for any Foodbank items.

These will be delivered to Sufra NW London or the foodbank service of your choice. See below. The Lexi Cinema will also accept donations 11-2pm on Tues/Weds.
