Queens Park 'Community Food Hub'
Our brilliant local refugee support charity, Salusbury World, set this hub up, initially at Salusbury School, then at St Anne's Church on Salusbury Rd, & outside Hugo's on Lonsdale Rd.
Thanks to Brunswick Partners, we can now be found at 22 Lonsdale Rd at 1-3pm on Mondays for volunteers to prepare food parcel gifts for vulnerable people and families.
The gifts can be received via www.bit.ly/Giftmeal or by contacting kensalqueenspark@gmail.com.
The idea is to support people and families in increasing need, without the need to ask anyone questions about their circumstances.
These gifts can be collected from 22 Lonsdale Rd (Mondays) or the Maqam (Thursdays) or we can arrange deiivery by DBS-checked volunteers.
The initiative is supported by local Residents' Associations, and the 'mutual aid' groups for Queens Park, Kensal Green and Brondesbury.
GIFT CONTENTS
The contents will typically be date and ingredient-labelled meals (e.g. vegetable curries made that same day), fruit and vegetables plus more items, depending on donations made by local residents on the day.
This is not a more comprehensive "Foodbank Service" which you can apply for from Brent Council, Sufra NW London, Brent Foodbank or North Paddington - see details here.
You can also receive items from other food services in the area such as the very popular Granville Community Kitchen in Carlton Vale, which is open on Weds and Fridays.
DONATING A GIFT
This could be something homemade which is baked, for which we would need you to label the ingredients and the day it was made.
Or we accept bought items which you know a person or family would like, including from these supportive local businesses.
HELPING A FOODBANK AS WELL?
We are also happy to also be a drop-off point for donations to be onward delivered to any local foodbank.
For a list of essential items, please see below (via Sufra NW London).
Make your donation worth 25% more, at no extra cost to you?
Or, if you prefer, you can support us by sponsoring a food parcel by donating here, via Salusbury World: www.justgiving.com/campaign/GiftYourNeighbour. If you are a UK tax payer your donation will increase by 25% if you tick the Gift Aid box.
