A simple idea...

Would you like to gift food to a neighbour?

You have surplus food but no time to go to a foodbank service?

Do you bake delicious food and can make an extra batch to help a neighbour?

Or you'd be interested in ordering your own food from a local business in a way which helps us 'donate a parcel'?

...using our big new volunteer network

Already there has been an incredible community response to Covid.

Hundreds of local people have donated money or made food donations to foodbank services or our incredible NHS and other local heroes. Or have been volunteering their time to charities.

Road WhatsApp groups have been mobilised or created to  help us hear when someone needs help.

Just in Queens Park's 'mutual aid' groups there have been over 250 offers of neighbourly help.

Many people have also been looking out for neighbours by shopping or making them food.

Also, Brent Council and foodbanks have been able to make thousands of free extra 'non-perishable' food parcels available.

....the social and economic effects of Covid are only just being felt.

More and more people are feeling isolated and, with regular income lost, many people are losing the means to feed themselves with tasty, nutritious food.

Now we are better connected than ever before...

can we use our community network to even better effect?

The "Gift Your Neighbour" idea...

Below are three parts to our idea

1. The Salusbury World Community Food Hub

2. The Maqam Community Food Hub

3. #loveLocal - support the above while supporting local businesses

You can also use us as a 'drop off' point for non-perishable food for us to distribute to foodbanks (such as Brent Foodbank, Sufra NW London, North Paddington) or other food services in the area (such as The Granville Community Kitchen, Queens Park Community Hub, The Avenues, Willesden Foodbank service).

The above initiative is backed by Salusbury World, Salusbury School, the Maqam Centre, St Laurence's Larder and our local Resident Associations. They are supported also by our local 'mutual aid' network, local businesses and Councillors.

Make your donation worth 25% more, at no extra cost to you?

If you cannot donate food or time, you can support us by sponsoring a food parcel by donating here, via Salusbury World: If you are a UK tax payer your donation will increase by 25% if you tick the Gift Aid box. 100% of the money will be spent on food (much-appreciated and urgent donations to the broader work of Salusbury World are to

Every Monday volunteers from Salusbury World, local Residents' Associations & other volunteers will be preparing 'Gifts for neighbour' parcels to distribute to vulnerable families in the area.

Please bring donations between 1-3pm on a Monday (Lonsdale Rd entrance) or we can collect from you at home.

Every Thursday 12-4pm volunteers will be preparing food parcels at the Maqam on Wrentham Ave. We'll be collecting food donations to distribute "Gifts for Neighbours" to homes, as well as essential items to give to foodbanks.

We will be buying fresh food from local businesses as part of our #loveLocal initiative. The participating businesses will donate extra food for "Gift Your Neighbour" parcels based on how much we all buy.
